Heroes” - The Wastewater Industry holds Successful Annual Conference
in Toronto April 5-7, 2009
The Water Environment Association
of Ontario (WEAO) hosted its 38th Annual WEAO Technical
Symposium and OPCEA Exhibition at the Westin Harbour Castle, April
5-7, 2009.
Keynote speaker
Elizabeth May delivered a
history of climate change and its current and potential impacts on
water and wastewater management.
Ron Moeller of the Water Environment Federation praised
the wastewater operators and others that enable all of us to perform
our daily lives in a sanitary and environmentally friendly way.
These people are often forgotten but are truly “unsung heroes”.
The Water Environment Association
of Ontario (WEAO) represents the many professionals involved in the
design, construction, maintenance and operation of more than 300
wastewater treatment systems in the province. From university
researchers to government regulators, from consulting engineers and
environmental consultants to wastewater treatment plant operators,
from equipment manufacturers to service suppliers, WEAO members are
dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Ontario’s water
environment.
WEAO is a not-for-profit
scientific and educational organization established in 1971 and is a
member of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) which boasts a
membership of over 30,000 professionals world-wide. WEAO is also a
member of the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA), the
national association representing the voice of water and wastewater
in Canada.
