Charity Draw Donations

As has become tradition at the conference WEAO and OPCEA will be holding fund raising events for the charity OPCEA hosts a reception on Monday evening and the proceeds from beverage sales go directly to WFPC. The Charity Draw is another great fundraiser that has become one of the many highlights of the conference, with the final drawings taking place at the banquet on Tuesday evening. Great fun is had by all as the draw takes place and the winners’ names emerge. Many of last year’s conference sponsors and OPCEA’s exhibitors generously contributed items for the charity draw. Access to Safe Water

Access to Safe Water – something we appreciate and understand both personally and professionally.  When we’re thirsty, we walk a few steps and turn on the tap – but our reality isn’t the reality for many people around the world.  Water for People understands this and we are engaged in working to ensure that access to safe water is available to everyone.  Every family, every school, every clinic.  Through your support and the support of your colleagues in the water and wastewater sector in Canada, Water for People has made great strides in changing how we resolve water and sanitation poverty.  And, we would like you to join us again in our latest campaign to ensure access to safe drinking water – the Donate to Drink, $2 Million Challenge.

Generous donors have pledged $1 Million to Water for People and they are asking you to match this contribution through your donations.  The Donate to Drink campaign runs from September 1, 2011 to October 31st, 2011 and it is an opportunity for you to see your donation doubled – you donate $25 and it will have the power of $50; donating $100 will have the power of $200 and so on.

Go to the Donate to Drink website - http://www.crowdrise.com/DonatetoDrink - and click on the button for Canadian residents (the one with the red maple leaf, of course).

You will be taken to the Canadahelps.org website and from there you can select a specific designation for your contribution.  If you are a member of a local AWWA or WEF section, then please select that section designation for your donation and your local Water for People Canada committee will be notified of your contribution.

Please note that Canadian donors will not be eligible for the Rwanda trip due to restrictions in international laws, however we will be able to offer the following gifts:

• The first 50 donors of between $25 - $99 will receive a bracelet made in Rwanda

• The first 50 donors of $100 or more will receive a water bottle generously donated by Marmot Mountain
