Model Terms of Reference for
Biosolids Management Contractors Now Available
Thanks to the efforts of Joe
Furgal, Don Hoekstra and Helen Ryan, the WEAO Biosolids Committee has
prepared a Model Terms of Reference that can be used by municipalities to
prequalify biosolids management contractors.
The Model Terms of Reference are based on prequalification
documents used successfully by Ontario municipalities to select a
contractor to operate their biosolids land application programs.
The
Model Terms of Reference can be downloaded from here in Microsoft
Word format -400K- or obtained by calling Tony Ho at 416-327-2759.
Biosolids 2000 Conference
Proceedings Available on CD-ROM
The proceedings from the hugely
successful Biosolids 2000 Conference held in Toronto in September are now
available and will be forwarded to conference attendees in the coming
weeks. The conference brought
together almost 200 practitioners and regulators involved in biosolids
management from across Canada. The
proceedings contain written papers or presentation materials from about 50
technical sessions at the Conference.
Plans are already beginning for the Second Canadian National
Residuals and Biosolids Management Conference.
If you are interested in helping with the organization of the next
conference or want to obtain a copy of the proceedings from Biosolids
2000, contact the WEAO office.
CWWA to form a Technical Committee
on Biosolids
The CWWA Board of
Directors has agreed in principle to establish a Technical Committee on
Biosolids. The purposes of
the Technical Committee are to advise the CWWA Board of Directors on
biosolids matters and to prepare positions that the Association might take
in respect to federal or national body initiatives.
It could also be used to support the activities of its member
Associations in respect to provincial government initiatives or
provincially unique issues when requested.
The relationship between the CWWA Technical Committee on Biosolids
and the National Biosolids Network established as an outcome of the
Biosolids 2000 Conference is currently being defined.
For more information about the CWWA Technical Committee on
Biosolids contact either Duncan Ellison at CWWA (admin@cwwa.ca)
or Peter Nicol at CH2M Gore & Storrie (pnicol@ch2m.com).
Peter has been named by the CWWA Board as the Liaison Director to
the new Committee.
